Travel

British actor, comedian and world traveler, Michael Palin said, “Once the travel bug bites there is no known antidote, and I know that I shall be happily infected until the end of my life.”

If the travel bug bites you, you can manage your symptoms with the resources the Research Librarians at the Upper Arlington Public Library have gathered for you. You can find books, databases, websites and magazines to enhance your trip, eliminate the unwanted frustrations of travel and give you additional perspectives on the sights and sounds you will encounter on your next trip.

Indexes / Databases

The following are part of Upper Arlington Public Library’s Research Tools. Unless you are in one of our library locations, you will need your library card number and PIN to access them.

CultureGrams – Learn important cultural facts about diet, manners, greetings and more before you travel to a foreign country, with CultureGrams: World Edition. You can also learn interesting histories and stats for US States with their State Edition. No matter where you are going, this will be an invaluable reference.

Global Road Warrior – Explore countries around the world from a traveler’s perspective, and discover cultural information and practical notes.

Mango Languages – Enhance your trip to a foreign country by learning a little bit of the language before you go. Along with their more in-depth language training modules, they also offer basic courses that will teach you some simple conversation skills in just a few hours.
