Baked Sauerkraut

Baked sauerkraut on a white plate, garnished with fresh basil leaves. The sauerkraut is golden brown and shredded.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup onion (diced)
  • 3 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 cup sauerkraut
Yield: 4 Servings
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 1 hour 35 minutes

Instructions

Cook onion in buffer until yellow. Add pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes, adding 1 or 2 tablespoons of water, if needed. Add sauerkraut and remaining water. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Bake in a preheated 300° oven for 1 hour. Add water, if needed. Yield: 4 to 6 servings.
