Velvet Fudge Cake

Slice of dark chocolate fudge cake with almonds, dusted with powdered sugar, served with whipped cream.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • 1 package chocolate chips (12 oz.)
  • 1 package chocolate fudge cake mix (2-layer size)
  • 1 package chocolate fudge instant pudding (4-serving size)
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
Yield: 24 Servings
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 1 hour 10 minutes

Instructions

Sprinkle 1/2 cup almonds on bottom of greased 10-inch tube pan. Set aside remaining almonds and chocolate chips. Measure remaining ingredients into mixer bowl. Blend, then beat at medium speed 4 minutes. Stir in chips and almonds. Pour into pan, bake at 350° for 70 minutes, or until cake begins to pull away from sides of pan. Do not underbake. Sprinkle top with powdered sugar and serve with whipped topping.
