Raisin Drop Cookies

Baked raisin drop cookies on a white plate, drizzled with caramel.

Ingredients

  • 2 cup raisins
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 cup margarine
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 cup sifted flour
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg and allspice
  • 2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
Yield: 72 Cookies
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 12 minutes

Instructions

Combine the raisins and water; boil 5 minutes. Cool, then add soda. Blend shortening and sugar, then eggs and vanilla. Add cooled raisins and water. Add flour and other dry ingredients. Mix well. Add nuts. Chill dough until stiff. Drop by rounded teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400° for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes 6 dozen.
