Master Facilities Plan Update
We are committed to maintaining our buildings responsibly, serving our community while being good stewards of public funds. In 2023, we collaborated with HBM Architects and Interior Designers, to develop a 10-year Master Facilities Plan and address necessary repairs and updates. These recommendations — shaped with input from our community — outline assessments, space considerations, and cost estimates.
Thanks to funding from the local levy, we are moving forward with critical projects identified in the plan. Major projects include roof replacement, HVAC improvements, and branch upgrades.
The Board of Trustees met on February 27, 2024, to prioritize projects based on recommendations. We will share further updates, along with links to the full study and space assessment and the facilities condition assessment, below, so you can explore the details.
Project Timeline
2024
- Address urgent maintenance repairs and replacements at all branches.
- Begin layout improvements at Lane Road Library.
2025
- The renovated Lane Road Branch opened on July 7, 2025
- Repair the Tremont Road Branch roof in Fall 2025.
- Create a Tremont Library Renovation Task Force composed of stakeholders, Board members, and community members provide recommendations regarding the renovation and long-term vision for the Tremont Library, informed by the 10-year Master Facilities Plan and the conceptual recommendations provided by HBM Architects and Interior Designers.
- Enhance Miller Park Branch with updated furniture and shelving.
2026 and beyond
- Continue phased renovations at Tremont Road Branch with a focus on functionality and space utilization, contingent upon finalized scope, design, and cost considerations.
