About the Friends of the Library
The only way to have a friend is to be one.
— Ralph Waldo Emerson
The Friends of the UAPL offer opportunities for volunteering, donations of items for book sales, and membership donations.
Through their funding, the Friends provide adult and children’s programs as well as much-needed library equipment. Call (614) 859-2524 to find out how you can get involved!
The Friends of the Upper Arlington Public Library was formed in 1977 as a nonprofit organization with membership open to anyone wishing to support the Library. Today the organization has become integral to the success and growth of the UAPL by promoting the Library system in the community, funding special projects, and providing the Library with many thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment. Membership donations and funds raised from book sales have enabled the Friends to buy new shelving, furniture, book drops, computers and even vehicles.
What we Support
The Friends are the major sponsor of the UAPL’s Summer and Winter Reading Programs. We also support the 50 Book Challenge and 1000 Books Before Kindergarten initiatives. We also provide funding for special events, staff and volunteer appreciation, author visits, and other needs.
Volunteers
Volunteerism is one of the Friends’ strongest areas. By staffing book sales, sorting donations, and serving on the Board of Trustees, Friends volunteers play an important role in the success of the organization. The Friends constantly strive to increase their volunteer corps.
To become a Friends member or volunteer, call (614) 859-2524 or pick up a volunteer application available at the front of the Friends cashier’s desk at the Tremont Road branch.
