Art History: The Harlem Renaissance - part 2

We will continue to examine the work of the Harlem Renaissance, this time focusing on two female artists: sculptor Augusta Savage and painter Lois Mailou Jones. These women faced significant hurdles in their careers, both as women and African-Americans. Their work is fascinating for how it addresses these issues while integrating Modernism, traditional African artistic elements and their own unique visions. Presented by CCAD instructor Ann Shifflet.
