The Fireman by Joe Hill
Dragonscale, a spore-induced, virulent plague, leapfrogs from city to city etching magnificent black and gold markings into people’s skin, causing them to combust when they least expect it. Fires erupt and spread with alarming frequency and speed. With Dragonscale so highly contagious and no cure or vaccine in sight, uninfected people are desperate to remain that way. To protect themselves, vigilante Cremation Squads arise to exterminate anybody they believe to be infected.
Harper Grayson, a volunteer nurse helping with infected hospital patients, learns she, too, is infected; she also is pregnant with her first child. And when she least expects it, a man called The Fireman comes to her rescue. Who is this mysterious man and has he really been driven crazy by his Dragonscale? Can Harper keep from bursting into flames? Can they stay ahead of the Cremation Squads? This exciting excursion into the unknown and what fear can do to people is entertaining and thought provoking.
