Creative to Analytical: Editing your Fiction

How do you make the switch from “first-draft mind” to the revision phase? This talk will lay out how to analyze your completed draft with an eye toward bringing out its strengths, finding your unique voice, and cutting words that get in the way. Faith Van Horne, a freelance editor who worked for three years as a content editor for a New York Times bestselling e-publisher, will share the most common problems editors see and show you how to spot them in your own work. You’ll also learn techniques for applying kind, helpful feedback when exchanging fiction with other writers.
