Preschool Stories and Crafts Class

Children ages 3 1/2-6 are invited to join us at the Lane Road Library for Stories and Crafts. Each week participants will listen to books and then make a fun project. Children and caregivers will learn prereading skills through stories, songs, rhymes, and art activities.

Local experts from the UA Commission on Aging, Syntero and Stay UA will be available on a drop in basis for individual consultation to answer questions related to older adult housing, medicare, caregiving, health services and retirement issues.

For children ages 3 ½ to 6 and their caregivers. Children and caregivers will learn pre-reading skills through stories, songs and rhymes to help prepare them for their Kindergarten Readiness Assessment. Kindergarteners will continue to strengthen their skills. Skills include answering questions, repeating sentences, rhyming words and identifying sounds and letters.

For children 0-24 months and their caregivers. Caregivers will learn songs, stories and rhymes to enhance personal reading time. These skills will help children build vocabulary, recognize objects, and build a foundation for reading and learning.

In the spring of 1970 growing student protests forced the Ohio State University to close entirely for two weeks - an event unprecedented in the institution’s 100 year history. Join Bill Shkurti for a discussion of his newest book “The Ohio State University in the Sixties: The Unraveling of the Old Order. Using news stories, archival materials and personal interviews, Shkurti has reconstructed the unique circumstances of those tumultuous times into a compelling narrative. A Few Notes on Streaming Music

Streaming services have changed the way we listen to music by making (almost) all of the songs available all of the time. We’ll talk about the major services like Spotify and Apple Music, and several you can access for free through the library. Then we’ll dive into tips for finding music and how to listen without burning through your data plan.
