Make Your Own At-Home Storytime Kit: Little Mouse, Little Mouse

Written by published on Tue, 04/28/2015 - 11:23am

The game “Little Mouse, Little Mouse” is a storytime favorite at Miller Park Library and is a great way to promote rhyming and color recognition.  There are many versions of this game, and I found this particular one on an outside blog.

6 different colored houses and 1 mouse

To play at home, you will need to make a mouse and several different colored houses.  You can create your own, but don't forget about free mouse and house coloring pages from websites like DLTK's.

Once everything is ready, set out the houses and secretly hide the mouse under one of them.  Then have your child try to find the mouse by saying “Little mouse, little mouse, are you in the (color) house?”.  Keep going until your child finds the mouse (which is always very exciting) and then play again or switch roles.
