About the Changes to the Media Department: FAQ

What happened to all the movies?

The circulation of our audiobook, music, and movie collections has declined drastically — over 60% in the past three years — due to more people adopting streaming services. We recently evaluated these collections and removed some items, many of which were duplicate copies. Even after this reduction, our film collection is still one of the largest of all the libraries in central Ohio.

Will you still get new DVDs?

Yes! We'll still purchase new titles and maintain a broad collection.

Why did you move the movies and music to the Adult Department?

By relocating these items, we free up the Media space to be used for other purposes. Additionally, Tremont's circulating adult collection is now in one space for ease of browsing.

What happened to the employees who worked in the Media Department?

Those staff members are now ready to serve you in the Adult Department and Research Department.

What about the computers that were there?

Computers are available in the Research Department downstairs, and will soon be installed in the Adult Department.

What will happen to the space that was the Media Department?

At this time, it's used for patron seating and some programs. Next year it will be used as staff workspace during the renovation of our lower level. When renovations are complete, the area will again be configured for public use. We're currently developing a Master Facilities Plan, and the result of that plan will determine the space's new use.

Critics Choice

Trailer for Scrapper

Scrapper

"Charlotte Regan’s debut feature Scrapper bears some resemblance to Charlotte Wells’ first film Aftersun — both are stories of grief and struggling father-daughter relationships. But while both speak to a bold new confidence in British filmmaking, Scrapper exists in its own world, manifesting in wildly different ways to Wells'. For Regan, that world is colourful, hopeful and full of spirit, far removed from the kitchen sink-isms too often considered a requirement for social-realist cinema telling working-class stories." Joan Baez-I Am A Noise

"The folk singer and counterculture veteran Joan Baez is the subject of this intimate and painful documentary, which brings us to the brink of a terribly traumatic revelation that it can’t quite bear to spell out." Full Review
