The Art of Vilhelm Hammershoi

Explore the paintings of Vilhelm Hammershoi, a Danish artist who produced some of the most lovely and haunting works to come out of the late 19th century and early 20th century. Discussion will include historic precedents for Hammershoi’s works by artists such as Vermeer, and we will analyze Hammershoi’s role in the Symbolist movement and how he relates to contemporaries like Edvard Munch. Ann Shifflet, Art History instructor at Columbus College of Art and Design is the presenter.
