Mysteries of Art History: The Amber Room

Come and learn about the Amber Room, a marvel of 18th-century craftsmanship. Installed in a Russian palace, the Amber Room was entirely constructed of carved amber panels with gold backing, producing a spectacular result. During World War II, members of the German army confiscated the panels, and they have not been seen since. We will explore the wondrous artistry of the Amber Room (and its modern reconstruction) and discuss the original’s possible whereabouts or whether it still exists.

Presented by Ann Shifflet from Columbus College of Art and Design.
