Request for Volunteer Program Presenters

The Upper Arlington Public Library is always looking for people that have special skills, knowledge or talent and who are able to volunteer to share that talent with children by offering a program! Previous volunteers have shared how to play chess, draw manga, and taught various crafts such as knitting.

Youth Services Opportunities

All three locations of the UAPL are seeking teen volunteers for this year's “On Your Mark, Get Set, READ” Summer Library Club. There are three different opportunities available.

Interns

Teens entering grades 10-12 or who graduate high school in 2016 are eligible to be an Intern.  The position involves a commitment of 9-12 hours per week from May 23-July 31.  Applicants will be required to write an essay and be interviewed.

Those chosen will gain valuable leadership and career skills by training Junior Volunteers, assisting with programming and collection needs, and other duties as assigned.  Internships are unpaid but selected students will receive recognition, letters of recommendation and service hour credit for their participation.

Details can be found on the application below which is due May 1, 2016 by 5pm.

INTERN APPLICATION

Junior Volunteers

Students in grades 7-12 wishing to help register and award prizes at our summer library club table are encouraged to apply for a Junior Volunteer position. Tremont is seeking 50-60 Junior Volunteers while Lane and Miller both need 25-30. Volunteers will earn service hour credits. Details can be found on the application. Applications are due by May 1, 2016 by 5pm.

JUNIOR VOLUNTEER APPLICATION

Book Buddies

All three locations will be looking for teens in grades 6-12 to help with our Book Buddies program.  Teens are paired with a younger student and act as their “coach.” Applications for Book Buddies will be available May 1, 2016  and will continue until we have enough Big Buddies. Volunteers will earn service hour credits.

BOOK BUDDIES APPLICATION

Completed applications for all three positions can be dropped off at the preferred volunteer location by the stated deadlines.
