From July 24 through August 4 at the Ohio Expo Center, it's time for food, entertainment, animals, amusement rides and, most importantly, the Butter Cow at the Ohio State Fair!
Ohioans attend the fair for many different reasons, but we can all agree it's a good time! Check out the official Ohio State Fair website to plan your trip; not only does it have the hours, admission and parking information, it also can save you money with downloadable coupons and information on discount days and promotions.
If you don't get your fill of the fair atmosphere here in Columbus, don't worry, there are plenty of chances to attend smaller versions of the State Fair. From now through September, there will be a county fair happening somewhere in Ohio almost every day. Check out this site from the Ohio Fair Managers for dates, locations and links for each county's event.
Entertain yourself in the meantime with pictures and an amusing article about Garrison Keillor's top ten joys at a state fair, and see if you agree! This June 2009 article is available to read through National Geographic Virtual Library, one of UAPL's Online Reference Databases.
