Many folks are surprised when they learn that here at UAPL we have a Summer Reading Club for infants and toddlers! But we know that building vocabulary and literacy skills starts from day one. Snuggling while reading to baby, incorporating play and singing into storytime, establishing a reading routine with baby, and allowing baby to explore books with his/her mouth are all excellent ways to begin baby's love of reading.
By offering a Summer Reading Club for babies and toddlers we hope to encourage early learning and literacy. By reading to your baby and participating in early literacy activities (and storytime at the library!) you can earn prizes for your baby at 5 and 10 hours. After 10 hours baby's name is automatically entered into a Grand Prize drawing for a basket of board books and a snuggly toy.
Here are some more tips to get you started!
Summer Reading Club begins Tuesday, June 4th and ends Saturday August 3rd.
