Discover Cape Cod

Join travel writer and author of ‘Discover Cape Cod,’ Shawnie Kelley as she recounts with the most captivating moments in the history of the Cape. Shawnie shares exciting stories from her recently released book along with a slideshow of beautiful pictures. From pilgrims and private treasure to wars and revolutions, Shawnie’s talk explores four centuries of history, bringing the Cape’s fascinating past to life. Explore historic homes, culinary traditions, cranberry bogs and and learn about Sandwich glass and Nantucket’s whaling industry. Discover Cape Cod brings history and travel together in ways that make exploring the Cape a rich, educational experience. Shawnie will be on hand afterwards to chat and sign books, which will be available for purchase.

Upper Arlington-based author, Shawnie Kelley, is a travel and food writer and owner of Wanderlust Tours. Shawnie is a regular contributor to a variety of history, culinary and lifestyle magazines and is currently working on The Woman’s Guide: France due out in late 2016. A passion for history, culture and cuisine underlies all of her writing.

This talk will lay out how to analyze your completed draft with an eye toward bringing out its strengths, finding your unique voice, and cutting words that get in the way. Faith Van Horne, a freelance editor who worked for three years as a content editor for a New York Times bestselling e-publisher, will share the most common problems editors see and show you how to spot them in your own work. You’ll also learn techniques for applying kind, helpful feedback when exchanging fiction with other writers.
