Preschool Storytime Class

For children ages 3 ½ to 6 and their caregivers. Children and caregivers will learn pre-reading skills through stories, songs and rhymes to help prepare them for their Kindergarten Readiness Assessment in Literature Test ( KRAL). Kindergarteners will continue to strengthen their skills. Skills include answering questions, repeating sentences, rhyming words and identifying sounds and letters.

Join us for an informal discussion of The Girls of Atomic City: The Untold Story of the Women Who Helped Win World War II by Denise Kiernan. The true story of the mysterious town of Oak Ridge, Tennessee and the thousands of women who lived and worked there. Their top secret jobs were part of the Manhattan Project. They contributed to the creation of the atomic bomb by enriching uranium without even knowing what it was that they were actually doing.

Movie & Popcorn

Come enjoy a Saturday afternoon movie in the library theater. We’ll be showing a newly released to DVD movie that is geared towards a young audience with a G or PG rating. The library will provide the popcorn/candy and you bring your own drink (with a lid please!) No registration necessary. Children 9 and younger need to be accompanied by an adult. Movie title will be available two weeks before screening.

We continue our Spring film series with Smoke Signals. This is the story of two young Native American boys on a literal and figurative journey out of their reservation to resolve their problems and to find themselves. Winner of the Sundance best picture award in 1998. Linda Taylor will present this movie and follow up with a discussion after the screening.
