Art History: The Architecture of H.H. Richardson

H.H. Richardson was one of the most important early architects in America. Working in the 19th century, he created a style called “Richardsonian Romanesque” that combined Medieval influences, Arts and Crafts principles, and a wholly unique American vision. We will look at Richardson’s most important commissions including Trinity Church in Boston and the Marshall Field Wholesale Store in Chicago, and we will explore many other designs for libraries, churches, and homes throughout America. Presented by CCAD instructor Ann Shifflet.
