Heroes are more than just comic book creations. Twenty-five real heroes grew up in Ohio and became astronauts! Educators from the Neil Armstrong Air & Space Museum visit the Lane Road Library on Monday, July 6 at 4 p.m. to talk about those Ohioans who defied gravity, including the first man on the moon, Neil Armstrong. One of the educators will also dress up in an Apollo-style spacesuit! Recommended for ages PreK and up. Register through our online program calendar.

  • Bike decorated in red, white and blue

    Red, White and Bikes

Bring your bike to any UA Library on Friday, July 3 at 2 p.m. to decorate it in patriotic colors for the 4th of July parade or just for fun! Materials like crepe paper and streamers available while they last. Those who wish to ride in the parade should report to the corner of Zollinger Road and Northwest Boulevard by 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

  • Photo of RMT band

    Songs of America

Come listen, sing, and dance with us as local band RMT performs patriotic songs outside in Miller Park on Thursday, July 2 at 7 p.m. Feel free to bring blankets, lawn chairs, or even a picnic dinner to this annual tradition. In the event of rain, a duo from the band will perform this program inside of Miller Park Library, so we hope to see you rain or shine! After the concert at dusk, stick around for an outdoor screening of WOSU Public Media's Columbus Neighborhoods: Tri-Village.

Adult Recommendations

"The Dinner" by Herman Koch

It begins with dinner at a high-end restaurant in Amsterdam. Two brothers, Paul and Serge, and their wives meet to discuss their teenage sons. It is quickly apparent this is no ordinary discussion.  What have the cousins done? What is to be done about it? Slowly the tension builds and the reader becomes anxious as the story unfolds. The ending is a stunner!
