Former NYPD homicide detective, John Corey, has been called to Plum Island to investigate the double murder of Tom and Judy Gordon. The husband and wife biologist team worked at a government research facility with deadly viruses and vaccines – leading many to wonder if there was a connection between what they were doing on Plum Island and their untimely deaths.
As the mystery unfolds, Corey falls for Emma, a local archivist, who unknowingly guides him to the possible nefarious activities of the Gordons. And when local detective, Beth Penrose, joins the case, she and Corey uncover a link to a prominent member of the community who just so happens to be Emma’s ex-lover. Is Corey on the right trail or is he reading the wrong map?
A very enjoyable book that takes several twists and turns, diving into the lore and legends of northern Long Island.
